Annemarie van Gaal is an investor and columnist. At twenty, she became a single mother and decided to work full-time to build a strong future. Five years later, she joined VNU, the largest publisher in the Netherlands, where her potential was quickly noticed.
VNU sent her to Russia to build media businesses from scratch. She worked on The Moscow Times and launched Cosmopolitan magazine, creating a huge impact in a new market. Overcoming those tough challenges showed her just how capable and strong she really was.
